15-year-old Marah captures in this verite essay the resilience and creativity of the Syrian children living in Za'atari Refugee Camp.

 
 

About the artist

Marah is from Dara'a, Syria and now lives in Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. Her film Children won numerous awards at film festivals, and will soon be held in a permanent museum collection in London. Marah has rigorously and adventurously continued to document children, families and Za’atari’s oldest residents in the camp. More recently, she created media for the Thompson Reuters Association as well as completing a 360 film. 

Of her first film Children she says, “I see the children playing, celebrating their childhood and their beautiful lives. How beautiful their days are. I remembered God’s great power. His wonderous human creation.”
